New players Pa Sulay Njie and Nathaniel Opoku have signed for Banbury United and are both available for selection for today’s match, their registrations having gone through yesterday evening.
Njie started at Coventry City before he was released from its academy in 2010. He then signed for nearby Nuneaton Town. He had a brief spell with Stoke City though did not get any first team minutes with the Potters. This helped him achieve selection to play for Gambia at U20s level.
After that, Pa Sulay Njie had spells at a range of clubs including Kettering, Boston and Shrewsbury through the 2010s, and then he ended up in his home country of Gambia playing for Real de Banjul. His performances led him to be on the fringes of the Gambia National team squad and in 2019, he got picked up by Hatayspor who ply their trade in top division of Turkey. However, he was left without a club again when once again due to injuries.
Since leaving Turkey, Pa Sulay Njie has had trials at Multiple EFL clubs but eventually signed for National League North side, Hereford. The experienced striker only managed one appearance for the Bulls due to injury and after a spell on the side-lines, the striker is raring to go.
Aged 31, Pa Sulay should add some maturity to Banbury United's young side and boost its attacking options.
The squad also welcomes Nathaniel Opoku who has previously been with West Ham, Bournemouth and Barnet.
Welcome Pa Sulay Njie and Nathaniel Opoku.
