United gained their first win of pre-season, at the final attempt, when beating Southern League Division One South & West side Didcot Town 2-0 at the Spencer Stadium this afternoon.
There were two starters who had not figured in United's previous friendlies. These were central defender Ben Thackeray who was at Bedworth United last season and striker Will Green who had a month loan spell at the Spencer Stadium right at the end of last season from Northampton Town before being released by them at the end of the campaign.
Glenn Walker put Banbury ahead in the 36th minute and then five minutes into the second half a David Staff cross from the left was headed home by Danny Edmond.
Following on from the draw gained at Nuneaton Town on Tuesday night, this afternoon's result and good performance will be a confidence boost as United now go into the season proper next Saturday when they entertain Hitchin Town at the Spencer Stadium
