Claudio came through the Northampton Town youth system having joined the club at under 14 level. He signed a professional deal with the Cobblers in March 2013, prior to making his first team debut against Barnet in the final league game of that season. The following season he had a loan spell with Corby Town before joining Banbury United on a month’s loan in December 2013, making three league appearances for the club, scoring a hat-trick when coming on as a substitute away to Hemel Hempstead Town on Boxing Day. He returned for a second loan spell with Banbury in March 2014 through to the end of that season, making a further 12 appearances for the club, scoring two further goals to add to the three he scored in his first spell at the club.
After being released by Northampton at the end of season 2013/14, Claudio would have a short spell the following season with Dunstable Town before joining Bedford Town though his season would be seriously curtailed by injury. After playing for Southern League Division One Central club Barton Rovers in season 2015/16 he then had short stints early the following season with National League North side Brackley Town and then National League side Braintree Town before returning for a second spell with Dunstable Town. Claudio re-signed for Barton Rovers ahead of the 2017/18 season before moving to United Counties League side Potton United in February 2018.
At the start of last season Claudio joined our league rivals Stratford Town, making 22 appearances for them before moving to fellow Southern League Premier Central side Tamworth in January 2019 for whom he made 14 appearances through to the end of last season.
Manager Mike Ford commenting on Claudio’s return to the Banbury Plant Hire Community Stadium said “Our recruitment this season has been based around good character and Claudio fits that bill. He’s an exciting attacking midfield player and we are giving him the opportunity to showcase his talents and establish himself at the club.”
Claudio was delighted to be joining Banbury United and said “I’m very happy to be signing at Banbury for the upcoming season. I see a great platform provided to progress my development and look forward to working with Mike, Andy and Eddie to achieve the club’s objectives for the season and also personal goals I have set too.”
Everyone at Banbury United would like to welcome Claudio back to the club.
