Tomorrow (Saturday) United entertain Coalville Town in a Southern League Premier Central Division game 3.00pm kick-off

This will be Coalville Town’s first ever visit to the Banbury Plant Hire Community Stadium as the sides had never met in any competition prior to this season. The league game at Coalville played back in mid-November saw United work hard throughout and they were rewarded for their efforts with a stoppage time header from Ricky Johnson earning them a point in a 1-1 draw.

This is Coalville’s third season at this level of football, having spent the past two in the Northern Premier League Premier Division after their promotion through the play-offs from Division One South of that league at the end of season 2015/16.

The Leicestershire side currently sit in eighth place in the table with 39 points from 22 games, three points ahead of ourselves though they do have a massive four games in hand on us and at least one, and in many cases more than that, on all the teams above them – on a points per game basis they would be fourth in the table! They also arrive tomorrow in good form, being unbeaten in their last six games, winning four and drawing two, last Saturday they achieved a creditable 2-2 home draw with Championship chasing Kettering Town and were only denied all three points by a last minute goal from the Poppies.

For United they will be looking to bounce back from their rather unfortunate defeat at Stourbridge last Saturday. Puritan supporters will be hoping that they continue their rich vein of home form which has seen them win their last four games at the Banbury Plant Hire Community Stadium, scoring a total of 15 goals in those four games, which favourably contrasts with the fact that we scored just six in the previous nine home league games of the season!
