The smaller trophy on the left is the Daventry Charity Cup which United had won at the Spencer Stadium with a 3-0 win over Raunds Town in the second leg of the final the previous Thursday, the goals coming from Tommy Pearson, Dean Hill and a penalty converted by Keith Mitchell. United had lost the first leg at Raunds 2-1.
The larger trophy in the middle is the Oxfordshire Senior Cup, United being the holders after beating Witney Town 1-0 in the 1988 final played at Oxford City’s White House Ground.
The 1989 final would see Oxford United go in front through Paul Byrne and though Steve Forbes equalised for Banbury before half time, second half goals from Lee Nogan and Mike Ford meant the Oxfordshire Senior Cup would be residing in the Manor’s trophy cabinet for the next twelve months.
