Jaanai joins for his third spell with The Puritans

Jaanai joins on loan from fellow National League North side Boston United on a three month loan.

The 26 year-old striker was with Luton Town as a youngster before progressing through the youth system at Peterborough United to make his Football League debut for them at the age of just 17 in September 2012. After making a total of four Football League appearances with the Posh he attracted the attention of Premier League West Ham United and joined them in December 2013. Though not making a first team appearance for the Hammers, Jaanai had loan spells whilst there with Chelmsford City, Nuneaton Town, League of Ireland side Sligo Rovers and Newport County, making ten Football League appearances whilst with the Welsh side.

Jaanai moved to Cheltenham Town in September 2017 and made four Football League appearances for them before long term injury ruled him out of the game for 18 months. He returned to football with Tamworth towards the end of season 2018/19 before joining Banbury United in August 2019. After making 23 appearances for the Puritans, scoring 15 goals, Jaanai moved up a level to play for Oxford City in November 2019.

A brief spell back at Tamworth at the start of season 2020/21 would follow before Jaanai returned to Banbury United for a second spell in October 2020, making three more appearances, scoring one goal, before the season was cancelled due to Covid.

Last season saw Jaanai have spells with Stratford Town, Hereford United and Brackley Town before he joined Boston United this past summer. He has made 13 appearances and scored three goals for the Pilgrims thus far this season. He wil not play in our game at Boston on Tuesday.

Commenting on the news Manager Andy Whing said “We’re delighted to get Jaanai back in with us. I believe he’s got unfinished business here and so does he. We’ve had a long conversation about him settling down to enjoy his football again and we believe we’re the right place for him to push on”
