Welcome Finn Tapp, to Banbury United.
Finn Tapp’s footballing career kickstarted as an eight-year-old as he was scouted for his hometown club Milton Keynes Dons, in which he successfully impressed throughout the academy, earning himself a scholarship in 2016.
On November 10th, whilst still an academy player, Tapp was named as a substitute for the first team's EFL Trophy group stage fixture against Norwich City. After coming on as a 76th-minute substitute, Tapp scored in the 84th minute in an eventual 4–1 defeat. After a second season flourishing in the academy set-up, Tapp signed a professional deal in 2018. His debut for the club took place on August 28th, 2018, as a substitute in the second half during a 3-0 loss to Premier League side Bournemouth in the EFL Cup second round where he was up against the Premier League’s 9th all-time top goal scorer Jermaine Defoe. Due to limited opportunities with the first team in the first half of the 2018-19 season, Tapp temporarily joined Staines Town, a club in the seventh tier. At the end of the season, Tapp was among 10 players released by Milton Keynes Dons alongside fellow new signing Lawson D'Ath.
Following his release from his hometown club, he joined Oxford city in 2019 and this is where he first crossed paths with Mark Jones. The defender impressed at Marsh Lane in the heart of the defence for the Hoops as he went on to feature 20 times for the club scoring once in the National League South. His one goal for the club was pivotal as his headed goal at the turn of the year against Wealdstone proved to be the winning goal.
After leaving Oxford City, Finn became a national phenomenon as he won the winter series of Love Island. He has used his experience to good effect as not only has Finn Tapp made a positive impact in the public eye, he is also utilising his experiences to mentor young players who find themselves thrown into the deep end of senior teams after excelling in the youth set-up. He is now using his own journey to offer support and advice to help them succeed in the highly competitive world of professional football. This demonstrates the leadership qualities and mentoring skills Finn brings in abundance as he adds experience on and off the pitch.
These skills have been evident across the three friendlies so far as Finn has commanded his defence alongside impressing with his ball playing skills out from the back.
