Match preview: Banbury United vs Scunthorpe United

. Banbury United5 Nov 2023 - 12:06

The Puritans are back at home this Tuesday, November 7th at 7.45pm and looking to extend their winning run to three games

Banbury United are back at home this Tuesday night, under the lights, playing against Scunthorpe United in the Vanarama National League North. Kick-off is at 7.45pm at the Banbury Plant Hire Community Stadium. Mark Jones’ team will be looking to extend their winning run to three games, having had Saturday’s game v Chorley postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

We are expecting a larger than usual crowd and so supporters are urged to arrive in plenty of time to avoid queueing too long to get in. The quickest way to get through the turnstiles is to have bought a ticket online ahead of the game. Accordingly, our security and the police presence will be more prominent than usual, to ensure a smooth running of this exciting night of football.

Our matchday sponsor is The Terrace, our team kit partner and Club sponsor. The Terrace designs and produces football gifts and merchandise, with free personalisation and thousands of products across hundreds of clubs. Everyone is recommended to check out their Banbury United range in the Club shop at the ground.

On Tuesday, we also welcome our first matchball sponsor of the season: The Bell Inn at Shenington. The Bell is an 18th Century country pub located on the village green and known as a great place to eat and drink for locals and travellers alike.

Speaking to Puritans Radio ahead of the match, Mark Jones said “If you had said to me, six to seven years ago that Banbury and Scunthorpe would have been in the same league, people would have probably laughed. It wasn’t that long ago they were playing in the Championship. No disrespect to them, as they have had a tough few years, but it’s great for us, and it will be good to have a game under the lights on Tuesday night that we can look forward to.

“Despite the disruption to the match schedule, with two recent postponements at home, we are in a good place as a team and are very happy to be back at home after two great away wins against Boston and Southport,” he concluded.

Scunthorpe currently sit in 3rd place in the league table, with 28 points so far. Last time out they had a 1-1 draw vs Boston, with a goal from Connor Smith.

Tickets for Tuesdays match can be purchased in advance online via this link: Match tickets.

Our stadium layout has changed for this season. Away fans should now enter and exit the ground via the Town End turnstiles. This is the first available right turn as you approach the stadium. Security staff will direct you.

All home supporters should enter and exit via the turnstiles at the main entrance, through the car park, by the clubhouse.

Standing and seated areas are available, with cover, as well as toilets and refreshments in both areas.

Please ensure you leave plenty of time for parking and getting into the ground. There is very limited spectator parking at the ground. It is always available for those requiring accessible parking. Spectators also cannot park on Station Approach or on Tramway Road.

We advise spectators park in the nearby Banbury Railway Station car park off Station Approach, where, parking is just £1 in the evening, between 6.30pm and 2.30am the following day.

Parking also includes Banbury Station East Car Park the multi storey car park accessed via Merton Street, the other side of the railway. Although slightly further from the ground you will be able to depart quicker from this car park after the game than from Station Approach.
