It has been difficult for Borough fans in recent years with the club’s very existence in serious doubt at times due to financial problems. However, though relegated from the National League North at the end of last season, they are, thankfully for a club with a long and distinguished history, beginning a new era back in the Southern League, albeit it was not the best of starts for their new adventure on Saturday, losing 3-0 at home to Kings Langley.
For United it was a decent enough start to the season at Redditch United on Saturday, picking up a point and keeping a clean sheet in a 0-0 draw.
The last time the clubs met in league action was season 2009/10 with Nuneaton on their way to promotion to Conference North via the end of season play-offs. United got a 5-0 hammering at Liberty Way that season but it was a different story at the Spencer Stadium with United winning 2-1. The clubs have met twice in more recent seasons in the Birmingham Senior Cup, both games at Banbury saw the home side victorious.
