Puritans Past Players (3 Ps) are the latest people to show their support to Banbury United FC.

The 3 Ps are all former players who meet regularly on the first Monday of each month at
Banbury’s Cotefield Nurseries coffee shop, where they exchange stories from their past playing careers.

The 3 Ps was the idea of Steve Slaughter, Steve Montgomery and the late Jock Hutchinson
who all played for the club in the 1970s. Ex-players travel from all over the country to attend the coffee mornings.

Each player pays money into the kitty to cover the cost of coffee and cakes. And as the kitty had grown sufficiently, they were able meet for a Christmas meal last December.

At the end of 2023, there was still some money left in the kitty. So, Wally Hastie suggested that the 3 Ps donate it to the Football Club.

Former player, Club Manager and bucket and sponge man Wally said: “I have been involved
with the Club since my teenage years, and spent most of my career here. It’s great that the 3
P’s are able to put something back.”

During every season, Banbury United also holds a 3 Ps day when it invites all Puritans Past Players to return and enjoy the Club’s hospitality before, during and after a game. They walk out to the centre circle just a few minutes before kick-off, where they are introduced to the crowd and receive a rapturous welcome from fans – some of whose memories go back as far as when these Past Puritans showed their skills on the very same pitch.
