Midfielder joins The Puritans from Gosport Borough

The club are pleased to announce the signing of 30 year old Midfielder Theo Lewis. Theo joins us from Gosport Borough.

Theo started his career as a youth player at Chelsea and Reading before joining Cheltenham Town. He made 43 appearances for Cheltenham in total and also had a loan spell at Gloucester City, making 9 appearances. Theo was released by Cheltenham in May 2012 and went on to join Salisbury City, he was a part of the side that won the 2012/13 Conference South playoffs.

The following season saw Salisbury relegated and Theo left to join Woking for the start of the 2014/15 season. This was followed by a short spell at Ebbslfeet United and a loan move to Havant and Waterlooville for the 2015/16 season. He then joined Havant and Waterlooville on a permanent basis and went on to win back to back league titles with the Hampshire based side. Winning the Isthmian Premier in 2016/17 and the National League South in 2017/18.

Following 3 years with Havant he joined Gosport Borough where he has been since the 2019-20 season.

Although he has played much of his career on the South Coast Theo is based in Abingdon. On joining the club he said “I am delighted to be on board. The boys have had a fantastic season so far and I am here to help in any way possible in the last nine games of the season.

Andy Whing is naturally pleased he is joining “We are delighted to get Theo on board. When we became aware he was available we jumped at the chance to sign someone of his ability and experience of being promoted for this level.”

We are very grateful to Gosport Borough for their assistance with the transfer, and subject to league approval of the paperwork Theo will be eligible to be in the squad tomorrow.

In other news Lewis Johnson has been recalled by MK Dons. We wish Lewis every success with his career and thank him for his contribution during his time with us. His goals at Stourbridge and particularly Redditch will live long in the fans’ memory.
